GluconaBond™

GluconaBond™ [Hydroxypropylgluconamide + Hydroxypropylammonium Gluconate] is a cutting-edge technology designed to recreate lost hydrogen and ionic bonds, reinforcing the internal structure of strands.

GluconaBond™ is a highly innovative, sugar-derived molecule derived from corn. Due to its small size and structure, it’s able to penetrate deeply into the cortex. Once inside, it interacts with keratin’s polar sites [through hydrogen and ionic bonding], effectively reinforcing the internal structure of the hair strand. The result is stronger, more resilient hair that’s less prone to breakage.

The cortex is the middle layer of the hair shaft, located beneath the cuticle. It is composed of tightly packed cells filled with keratin protein reinforced by disulfide, hydrogen, and ionic bonds that provide the hair with its strength, elasticity, and structural integrity.

When the hair cortex is compromised, the fiber’s fundamental properties of hair deteriorate, leading to:

  • Weakened strength: Damage to the coiled keratin chains and the disulfide, hydrogen and ionic bonds makes hair more prone to breaking under tension or while brushing.

  • Reduced elasticity: A healthy cortex lets hair stretch and rebound. When cortical bonds are broken, hair loses springiness and may break instead of stretching.

  • Increased susceptibility to further damage: A compromised cortex loses cohesion and offers less resistance to structural cracks, leading to the formation of split ends.

GluconaBond™ addresses cortex strength at the molecular level. Clinical testing shows that even a single application boosts hair strength, with effects stacking over repeated treatments. It works regardless of hair type or damage level, delivering consistent, cumulative repair for stronger, more resilient hair.
